Azureberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 31 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a stocky, curved trunk covered in hard, smooth, dark gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is burgundy.

The thick clumps of branches are short and thick and are covered with small bunches of huge, thin leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either gentle yellow, or deep green with azure patches.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, caramel blossoms with 7 circular shaped petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like old shoes.

In late autumn it produces , long, straight fruit. The crispy orange skin is stretchy and inedible, and the soft deep green flesh is sweet and savoury and juicy. The bronze seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
It is suitable for making strong rope
