This pink-red moss is commonly found growing in large clumps In rainforests, and On rotten logs.
It is small, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps, and is overwhelmingly frail.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release millions of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
