Magenta

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its yellow stems grow in bunches of 8 and are wispy with a curved tip, and the small, pink-red leaves are stiff, pointed with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

6 to 9 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with solid magenta petals decorated with bold red dots and a violet central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 38 curved petals. They are very delicate.

It has a strong scent that smells like rotten egg, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is a self-pollinator.
