Silver Fruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a sturdy, slanted trunk covered in waxy, burgundy bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale yellow.

The small bunches of branches are long and thin and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, very narrow and elongated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in caramel, gentle blue and silver varieties.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of small, dark grey blossoms with broad, flat petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like rotten eggs.

In early summer it produces small, wide fruit. The fuzzy intense purple skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is sour and savoury, and the crunchy grey flesh is salty and very dry. The blood red seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
