Bloodfire Cactus

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 36 feet (11.0 meters) tall. The very thick stem is lime green, and is covered in large amounts of fine, grey, hair-like spines. The bulbous, blood red trunk can grow to as much as 36 feet (11.0 meters) in diameter. Its green branches are long, thin and wispy.

The rounded-edged, very thick leaves are peach at the bottom and olive with bright green edges at the top. They are sturdy, but easily come away when pulled.

It is very slow growing, taking 14 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid gold petals and a violet central disk grows at the top, reappearing once every 7 years. The flower head is largely flat with 41 raised round-tipped petals. It has a faint scent that smells like candle wax.

The caudiciform's skin is tough, the olive flesh is waxy, and the bronze sap is thin.
