Coppervine

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 87 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many very thick, straight stems covered in paper-thin, cracked, dark green bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches are long and slender with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of giant, spear shaped, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of gray-green that gradient shifts to copper at the top, sturdy and leathery.

In late summer it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, cyan blossoms with umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have an intense scent that smells like fruity.

In late winter very large long, narrow fruits ripen. The hairy dull yellow skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft purple flesh is salty and powdery. The vibrant yellow seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It blooms only at night.
