Hazel Succulent

This short leaf succulent grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is yellow, and is covered in many rigid hazel spines. The ripped-edged, very thin leaves are a shade of gray-green that gradient shifts to aquamarine at the top. Small amounts of them grow from the base in no particular order. The leaves are hardy, but easily come away when pulled.

It is quick growing, taking 9 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with violet petals and a red central disk grows at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. It has a powerful scent that smells like perfume.

The leaf succulent's skin is extremely thick, the green flesh is sticky, and the subtle purple sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.
