Caramel Sunflower

This modest-sized flower grows up to 2.0 feet (61 cm) tall. Its brown stem is very thin, and the tiny, burgundy leaves are broad, flat with jagged edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Two small flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with solid orange petals decorated with brown lines and a caramel central disk. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of widely spaced narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like leather, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
