Magenta

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The stiff, pointed stem is gray-green, and is dotted with small brown spines. The slanted, dark brown trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter at the bottom. Its orange-yellow branches trail down towards the ground and start growing a quarter of the way up the stem.

The large amounts of tattered-edged, spear shaped leaves are either magenta, or red with pink patches. They are light, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are blood red on the edges and lilac at the center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of several petals in raised layers. It has a strong scent that smells like blood.

The caudiciform's skin is extremely thick, the slate flesh is slimy, and the lime sap is thin.

It can survive a very long time without water.
Several parts of the flower have medicinal properties.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
