Magenta Bellflower

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 26 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous stocky, straight stems covered in delicate, knobbly, gray bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of huge, slender, pointed, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either turquoise or white, with magenta patches, delicate and smooth.

In mid-spring it produces copious amounts of large, crimson flowers with broad, flat petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like alcohol.
