Copperbell

Flower type: Perennial (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This short flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is wispy and straight with a curved tip, and the huge, red leaves are fan-like with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

5 to 7 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 15 cm (5.9 inches) wide, with petals that are copper at the sides and slate at the center. The flower head is made up of 8 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cup. They are sturdy.

It has a weak scent that smells like new carpet, and it has an average amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to insects.


It is suitable for making strong rope
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
