Amberfern

This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 322 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in thin, smooth, dark gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of clammy, giant, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid amber with indigo lines.

In late summer it forms large, ashy orange, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
