Coffeeleaf Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 392 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a slender, angular trunk covered in thick, waxy, brown and grey bark, and inside, the hard wood is light brown.
The sparse patches of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with handfuls of covered in fine hairs, giant, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are copper and pink.
In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, gold blossoms with perforated petals. They are hardy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like coffee.
In late summer it forms large, olive, shelled seeds.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
