Indigo Sunflower

This big flower grows up to 6.8 feet (2.1 meters) tall. Its indigo stem is very thick and straight, and the huge, hazel or violet leaves are umbrella-shaped with irregular edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 4 to 6 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 61 cm (24.0 inches) wide, with silver petals and a yellow center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 40 curved petals. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like chocolate, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
