Coniapple

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 54 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a very thick, wavy trunk covered in silky, burgundy bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pine-coloured.

The small handful of branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of miniature, thin leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are generally dark red.

In early spring, it produces clusters of tiny, crimson blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like ashes.

In early winter it produces , cuboid fruit. The crispy green skin is thick and spicy and sour, and the crunchy bold yellow flesh is spicy and salty and syrupy. The lime seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
