Copperleaf Tree

This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 85 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, crooked trunk covered in paper-thin, smooth, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pale brown.

The sparse patches of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of smooth, tiny, pleated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are moss green with caramel tips.

In late summer it forms tiny, yellow, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
