Silverfern

This silver moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps On rotten logs, and In marshes.
It is small, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is slightly tough; it is very difficult to kill.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release thousands of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.
