Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This massive shrub grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for around 93 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has dozens of flexible, wavy stems covered in cracked, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is yellow.
The branches are short, thin and wispy with thousands of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, slender, pointed, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are yellow with purple tips, flexible and smooth.
It produces many clusters of tiny, slate flowers with sickle shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an intense scent that smells like honeysuckle. In late summer it forms smallbrilliant red, spiky-shelled seeds.
