Skunkfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This large fruit tree grows up to 40 feet (12.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 66 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in fine, smooth, brown bark, and inside, the light wood is brown.

The branches are very short and thin and are covered with small bunches of small, finger-like leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either bright green, or bold yellow with lime edges.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of large, peach blossoms with many layers of petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like skunk spray.

In late summer it produces , stiff, pointed fruit. The waxy olive skin is thick and sour, and the crunchy bold yellow flesh is sweet and sour and very juicy. The hazel seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
