Golden Vinefern
Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 18 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has several thick, curved stems covered in thin, smooth, light brown bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.
The branches are long and slender with dozens of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, thin, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are bold yellow on the sides and cream at the center, hardy and smooth.
In early spring it produces several small, bright green blossoms with 5 spiral shaped petals. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like vanilla.
In late winter small long, narrow fruits ripen. The fuzzy dark grey skin is thick and spicy and savoury, and the soft bold yellow flesh is sweet and spicy and sticky. The crimson seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
