Mahogany

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This massive fruit tree grows up to 75 feet (22.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in fine, silky, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is silver.

The branches are very short and thick and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, 8 pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of red that gradient shifts to hazel at the top.

In early spring, it produces thousands of tiny, caramel blossoms with fan-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have no scent.

In mid-autumn it produces , circular fruit. The rubbery grey skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft purple flesh is spicy and powdery. The lime seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
