Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 244 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, wonky trunk covered in delicate, cracked, silver and white bark, and inside, the very hard wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are very short and slender and are covered with handfuls of sticky, giant, sickle shaped leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are white on the sides and blood red at the center.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of medium-sized, pink blossoms with perforated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a powerful scent that smells like misty mornings.

In late summer it forms small, beige, shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It can absorb up to 8 times its own weight in water.
It is suitable for making paper
