Brambleberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 16 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, slanted trunk covered in delicate, ridged, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of tiny, spear shaped leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are crimson and bold orange.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, florescent blue blossoms with long, narrow petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like damp.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, 8 pointed fruit. The rough indigo skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy yellow flesh is bitter and syrupy. The olive seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
