Copper

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, twisting trunk covered in thin, knobbly, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown-grey.

The excessive amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of small, finger-like leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are yellow and olive.

In early spring, it produces many tiny, copper blossoms with 3 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like fish.

In late autumn it produces tiny, triangular fruit. The clammy indigo skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy crimson flesh is sweet and very dry. The light brown seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
