Violetbell Tree

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 330 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in rough, black bark, and inside, the very dense wood is dark brown.

The branches are short and slender and are covered with large amounts of fuzzy, tiny, thin leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are pink at the bottom and light grey with violet lines at the top.

In early spring, it produces a handful of small, faded orange blossoms with fan-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like fish.

In late summer it forms small, white, shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
