Golden Spruce

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized tree grows up to 41 meters (134.5 feet) tall and lives for over 2,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 2322 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, wavy trunk covered in knobbly, light gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground, covered with large amounts of huge, yellow-green needles. The needles themselves are flimsy.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, caramel, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and are suitable for boiling.
