Waterstem Bush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 97 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous wide, straight stems covered in ridged, brown bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches are short and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of giant, stiff, pointed, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are either ashy green, or lime with aquamarine zig-zags, frail and rough.

It produces many tiny, gold flowers with asymmetrical petals. They are hardy and have a faint scent that smells like soap. In early winter it forms medium-sizedred berries.


It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
