Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is wispy and straight, and the huge, muted orange leaves are light orange-yellow on the underside and are kidney-shaped with wavy edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.
Two medium-sized flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with petals that are copper in the center, slate in the middle and silver at the edges. The flower head is largely flat with many widely spaced round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.
It has a delicate scent that smells like meat, and it has very little pollen, but can cause severe allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
