Ashy Purple Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 16 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in fine, ridged, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is light brown.

The abundance of branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of huge, thick leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are ashy purple on the sides and brown at the center.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, green blossoms with fan-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have no scent.

In early autumn it produces , needle-like fruit. The clammy bold green skin is peel-able and bland, and the soft ashy purple flesh is savoury and dry. The green seeds are large and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
