Bluebell Bush

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 36 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several very thick, slanted stems covered in hard, cracked, black bark, and the wood inside is white.

The branches are short stubs that and are covered with handfuls of small, very narrow and elongated, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in deep purple and washed-out blue varieties, frail and smooth.

It produces many medium-sized, sky blue flowers with sickle shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a faint scent that smells like freshly baked bread. In mid-summer it forms largehazel, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
