Copper Knobweed

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 127 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of slender, crooked stems covered in fine, knobbly, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are short stubs with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of large, thick, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid silver or magenta, with blue edges, delicate and crispy.

It produces large amounts of large, bright orange flowers with many layers of petals. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like paint. In midwinter it forms giantcrimson, winged seeds that float and land far away.
