Copperpeach

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 40 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in silky, light gray bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black with white speckles.

The sparse amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of tiny, fan-like leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are orange-yellow with copper tips.

In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, orange blossoms with oblong shaped petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like bonfire smoke.

In early winter it produces , finger-like fruit. The smooth copper skin is stretchy and bitter, and the soft peach flesh is sweet and spicy and powdery. The white seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
