This orange-yellow moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps In bogs, and In moorlands.
It is average-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is extremely robust; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald circular capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release dozens of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
The stems are covered in large spikes.
It is suitable for making paper
