Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This enormous tree grows up to 117 meters (383.9 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 69 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, curved trunk covered in ridged, yellow bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are very long and thin and are covered with large amounts of leathery, tiny, sickle shaped leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either indigo, or deep blue with blood red splotches.

In early spring, it produces thousands of giant, black blossoms with circular petals. They are hardy and have an intense scent that smells like glue.

In late summer it forms small, black, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
The sap causes severe allergic reactions.
It can survive a very long time without water.
It is bio-luminescent.
