This yellow moss is commonly found blanketing large areas In damp forests, and In rainforests.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they are slow to spread and grow, and is slightly sturdy; it can easily endure being trodden on.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release millions of spores.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
