Thornwood

This large tree grows up to 77 meters (252.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 439 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, slanted trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, black bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The sparse amount of branches are very long and thick and are covered with small bunches of covered in fine hairs, huge, long, tapering leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are generally lilac.

In early spring, it produces thousands of giant, magenta blossoms with 8 pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like varnish.

In late summer it forms large, drab green, shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
