Brownfern

This dark brown moss is commonly found blanketing large areas In rainy mountain ranges.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they spread and grow quickly, and is overwhelmingly flexible; it can easily endure being trodden on.
When mature, emerald teardrop-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release thousands of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.
