Coppervine

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.3 feet (41 cm) tall. Its gray stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 6 and are thick and straight, and split into dozens of branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the huge, copper leaves are spear shaped with ripped edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

3 to 9 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with petals that are yellow on the edges and florescent purple at the center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 curved petals. They fall easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like fermented fruit, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to insects.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The entire plant is edible and the grains areslightly savoury.
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
