Violet

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows the first year, flowers the second year, then dies)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, twisting trunk covered in delicate, smooth, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is yellow.

The small handful of branches are long and thick and are covered with large amounts of tiny, long, narrow leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are violet and brown.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of giant, cyan blossoms with crescent-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like paint.

In early winter it produces tiny, oblong fruit. The clammy blue skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy olive flesh is sweet and oily. The white seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
