Copperflower

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its copper stem is wispy, and the giant, brown leaves are very thick with irregular edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Dozens of small flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide, with alternating petals of copper and red, with a peach central disk. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. They fall easily.

It has an intense scent that smells like petrol, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
