Sunburst

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. It splits randomly along the body to form 3 finger-like stems. Each stem is florescent yellow and slate, and is covered in many flexible red spines. The tear-shaped body is azure, and is dotted with small dark brown spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 41 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with solid washed-out orange petals decorated with olive lines and a cream central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with 17 widely spaced round-tipped petals. It has a weak scent that smells like misty mornings.

The cactus's skin is extremely thick, the olive flesh is rubbery, and the yellow sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It can survive a very long time without water.
