Crimson Succulent

This short cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 3 very narrow, elongated stems. Each stem is orange-yellow, and is covered in brittle lime spines. The cuboid body is pink-red, and is covered in handfuls of rigid cream spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 18 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are white on the edges and crimson at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of several petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight heart. It has an overpowering scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

The cactus's skin is tough, the brown flesh is leathery, and the crimson sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.
