Magenta

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 24 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of stocky, straight stems covered in very thick, silky, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches are short and thin that and are covered with handfuls of miniature, stiff, pointed, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either magenta or olive, with crimson splotches, flexible and waxy.

In late summer it produces copious amounts of medium-sized, green flowers with spear shaped petals. They fall easily and have a powerful scent that smells like damp.
