Copperwood
Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 16 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has numerous thick, wonky stems covered in very thick, smooth, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is silver.
The branches are long, thin and wispy with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of huge, broad, flat, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and cream, robust and soft.
It produces lots of small, purple flowers with crescent-shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like pot-purri. In early winter it forms smalldark brown, spiky-shelled seeds.
