Speckled White

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows the first year, flowers the second year, then dies)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 22 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has many thick, straight stems covered in waxy, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is pine-coloured.

The branches are short stubs with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of large, asymmetrical, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in slate and light grey varieties, fairly frail and leathery.

It produces handfuls of small, olive flowers with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like new books. In early autumn it forms smallyellow, tough-shelled seeds.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
