Magenta Silverstem
Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This big flower grows up to 5.6 feet (1.7 meters) tall. Its silver stem is very thick, and the tiny, blood red leaves are wispy with serrated edges. 24 leaves grow at the base of the stem.
5 to 8 large flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 39 cm (15.4 inches) wide, with solid magenta petals and an amber central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 60 petals. They are hardy.
It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like skunk spray, and it has copious amounts of pollen,but it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It can flourish even in standing water.
