Abyssal Vinefruit
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This massive fruit tree grows up to 60 feet (18.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 18 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in wrinkled, silver and white bark, and inside, the light wood is pine-coloured.
The excessive amount of branches are very long and thin and are covered with handfuls of large, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid gentle purple with blue dots.
In early spring, it produces many clusters of small, gentle purple blossoms with kidney-shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like vomit.
In early winter it produces , V-shaped fruit. The smooth lime skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy silver flesh is salty and sticky. The brown seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
