Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps In bogs.
It is large, growing up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps, and is extremely rigid.
When mature, emerald flame-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release millions of spores.
