Silvervine

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 152 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous sturdy, crooked stems covered in hard, wrinkled, silver bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are very long and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, pleated, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are caramel at the bottom and magenta with subtle yellow streaks at the top, rigid and waxy.

In late spring it produces lots of tiny, violet blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like a man.

In early autumn tiny wide fruits ripen. The hairy turquoise skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft orange flesh is salty and oily. The bright green seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.
