Magenta

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 73 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, curved trunk covered in silky, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow.

The small handful of branches are very short and thick and are covered with large amounts of tiny, thin leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are either magenta or aquamarine, with amber edges.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, beige blossoms with long, narrow petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a faint scent that smells like lavender.

In early autumn it produces tiny, slender, 5 pointed fruit. The soft grey skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft orange flesh is savoury and powdery. The faded red seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
